Display Name overview
The display name on your WhatsApp Business profile is the name of your business. You assign a display name to a phone number when you add it to your WhatsApp Business account in the Meta Business Manager.
Steps to change your WhatsApp Business display name
Your business can change display names up to 10 times in a 30-day period. Once the 30-day period ends, a new one begins. If you exceed this limit, you'll need to contact Facebook support to make further changes.
If you have an official WhatsApp Business Account (Green Tick), contact Facebook's Direct Support and provide the following to change the display name:
- Question Topic: Request an Official Business Account
- Request Type: Update OBA Display Name
For a general verified business or non-official WhatsApp Business Account, follow the steps below to update your display name.
- Go to your Business Manager, select your business, click the Settings menu, then select WhatsApp Account in the side menu.
- Select the account you want to rename, then open your WhatsApp Manager by clicking the WhatsApp Manager button on the page.
- Under the Name column, hover over your current display name and click the pencil icon.
- In the Edit Display Name section, enter a new display name and click Next.

Your display name must be approved by WhatsApp before an updated certificate becomes available. Once approved, the new name is reflected automatically on your number. Approval typically takes about 1–2 days, and you'll be notified by email. You can check the status in the certificate dialog.
Important: If you change your WhatsApp Business display name via Meta Business Manager (MBM), your existing Official Business Account (OBA) approval will be revoked by Meta. To regain OBA status, you must either re-apply for OBA or contact Support to help submit a Meta Direct ticket.

What can I do if the display name gets rejected?
When a display name is rejected on WhatsApp, the certificate status updates to "Name Not Approved." You can resubmit a new display name by following the steps above and making the necessary changes. Once approved, the new display name automatically reflects on your number.
