The business verification process helps Meta confirm that your business is a legitimate business or organization. Not all businesses need to complete verification. Verify your business to:
- Migrate your phone number to Aelyst as your Business Solution Provider (BSP).
- Increase messaging limits to engage with a larger audience.
- Apply for a WhatsApp Official Business Account.
- Add more than 2 phone numbers to your WhatsApp Business API account.
Before you begin
- Admin access in Meta Business Manager (MBM): Admin-level access is required to perform the verification process.
- Complete business info: Fill out the Business Information section of your MBM before submitting. Ensure your legal business name, address, phone number, email address, and website match the supporting documents you provide.
- Supporting documents: Prepare at least 2–3 of the following to verify your business name, address, and phone number:
- Business license — verifies the legal name and address of the business.
- Certificate of Incorporation — verifies the legal name and address of the business.
- Utility bill — verifies the business phone number.
The details in your supporting documents must match the business name, address, and phone number in the Business Info section of your MBM. The same documents are also required for Government Agencies.
Verifying your business in Meta Business Manager
- Navigate to Security Center in your Business Settings, then click Start Verification.
- Add your organization details: name, address, phone number, and website.
- Select a contact method to receive a confirmation code.
- Upload your business's supporting documents.
- Enter the confirmation code.
- Click Done.
Once you've completed verification, you'll receive an email and a notification in your MBM about the approval status — anywhere from 10 minutes up to 14 working days. Alternatively, check your status in WhatsApp Accounts > Settings > Business Verification.
Handling a rejected verification
An approval status may be rejected for several reasons:
- Submission details such as organization details are incomplete.
- Supporting documents are not viewable.
- Business details on legal documents don't match the details provided during submission.
To resolve a rejection:
- Navigate to the Security Center to review the rejection reasons.
- Ensure the supporting document details match the Business Info section in your MBM.
- Resubmit with additional supporting documents if necessary. Meta's business verification documentation lists accepted document types.
Display name review after verification
Before a display name can be approved, Meta requires that messaging limits be increased to the 1K tier (125 messages in a 7-day rolling period).
When business verification is complete, the display name review for all phone numbers associated with your account is automatically initiated. The display name is your business name that customers see on your WhatsApp Business profile.
You'll receive an email and a notification in your MBM within 1–2 days about the display name approval status.
Display name rejected: how to proceed
Use your brand or business name to increase approval chances. Ensure your display name adheres to Meta's display name guidelines.
FAQ and troubleshooting
What should I do if the Start Verification button is missing?
If you can't locate the Start Verification button:
- Go to your Meta Business Manager.
- Fill in your business information: legal name, address, website, and business phone number.
Once the required details are filled in, the Start Verification button should become visible so you can initiate verification.
What is the difference between Meta Business Manager and Meta Business Suite?
Meta Business Manager (MBM) and Meta Business Suite (MBS) are both tools Meta provides to help businesses manage their online presence, but they serve different purposes.
Meta Business Manager (MBM) is for managing user permissions across your Meta Business Account — which holds your Facebook Pages, Instagram profiles, ad accounts, and other business assets — and for maintaining the security and privacy of those assets.
Meta Business Suite (MBS) is for managing your marketing and advertising on Facebook and Instagram: handling messages, comments, and notifications, creating or scheduling posts, stories, and ads, and viewing insights and performance metrics.
To get started, you need a business portfolio (previously called a Meta Business Account), which you would have created when signing up for the WhatsApp Business Platform (API). With a business portfolio, you can log in to either MBM or MBS. Meta has since transitioned the desktop experience to MBS; to switch back to MBM, follow Meta's steps to switch to Business Manager.
